Partnership in Action: Improving Drainage in Friendswood

The Galveston County Consolidated Drainage District (GCCDD) recently partnered with the City of Friendswood to address long-standing drainage concerns in the Lundy Lane/El Dorado area. For decades, neighborhood ditches had not been regraded, causing reduced water flow and increased flooding risks.

By working together to regrade these ditches, GCCDD and the City restored the proper slope and improved the system’s capacity to move stormwater efficiently. This project not only helps reduce localized flooding but also demonstrates how collaboration between local governments can deliver lasting benefits for residents.
