Preparing for Resiliency at Frenchman’s Creek

In the Polly Ranch neighborhood, at a spot known locally as Frenchman's Creek, the City of Friendswood and GCCDD partnered to buy out properties located in vulnerable flood-prone areas. With those buyouts complete, GCCDD is now studying the site for new opportunities to support long-term flood mitigation and maintenance.

One concept under review is developing a barge launch at Frenchman’s Creek. This launch would give crews better access for desnagging, routine creek maintenance, and emergency operations—ensuring that waterways stay clear and resilient during major storm events. By planning ahead, GCCDD is investing in infrastructure that keeps our community safer and more prepared.
